Well, because Dubai is a Mixture between first and third world countries, you will wonder what is the weirdest cars that on show in there?
Well, let's see..
There's a Nissan NV200..
And his Chinese Cousin..
Faux Hummer..
AAAAAAAARRRGH!!!
Faux Toyota Hatchback.
At first, I was thinking this Mitsubishi is not finished yet.
That is desperate.
And that is as bland as a tap water.
I can't belive the company that made something like Lancer Evo could come up with that sort of... thing.
That didn't look like a Joy for me.
And this is just hopeless..
I mean..
Piaggio thinks that the Ape Extra will survive in Dubai and it's vicious desert storm, and decide to sell it there. That's insane
There's the passenger version too!
But that's better than what lexus has done.
I mean..
This is a CAR SHOW, Lexus. Keep your bike for a bike show.
Anyway, which one is the worst?
Here's 3 Supercars to reset your mind back to the normal state.

Remember how many boring people there are in the world that want an A to B car. It ruins things sometimes.

It's not Faux... Those are License built, so they are actually real.

The Hummer looks like something I'd buy just for fun. It's undoubtedly cheaper than the 6 figure H1...
The 301 might make a decent wagon. I like the front end on the Mitsubishi SUV - next Montero/Pajero?
![]() 11/10/2013 at 13:09 |

What's weird about some of them? The Peugeot 301 is supposed to come to Europe as well. The tiny red car looks like a copy of the peugeot/toyota/citroen 107/aygo/c1, which is widely spread here as well.
Don't forget a lot of American cars aren't sold here because they're labeled crap over here.

porsche used rev engine. it was super effective. the hoarde of cheap and tacky cars fainted. porsche leveled up *level up jingle*. porsche wants to learn a new move

The engine is a license-built Cummins Diesel and the chassis is from an H1 which they import from the US. That isn't the same thing as the entire vehicle being built under license.

What an odd choice of supercars to display. Those aren't exactly new. It's great to see a CLK GTR getting some exposure, though.

I'll choose the CLK GTR.

WHY
![]() 11/10/2013 at 14:15 |

Two of the three cars here are notorious for having their racing versions back flip at high speed. Hmmm...
(But, the CLK GTR isn't the same as the CLR GTR blah blah blah! Whatever, they're essentially the same thing.)

It's like choosing between say, Emma Watson and Scarlett Johansson.. Or Christina Hendricks.. Or.. you get my drift I'm sure.

Companies should always google names before they put it on something. Pajero, hahahahaha.
![]() 11/10/2013 at 14:51 |

And the Porsche GT1 98s are different from this one as well. The 98s were the ones that flipped.
They all had flat bottoms, correct? It seems like the curvier bodywork of the 98s and the CLR made the cars more like wings along with the flat bottoms.

Ya.
They're the part of Classic Show i believe. They also have a Brabus Classic and a Aston Martin DB6.

I often times have wondered what a racing version of the Enzo would have looked like, had the FXX not existed. But, the era of the GT1s was shorted lived. Would have been nice to see what the F50 GT1 would have done.

they also had this hump humping demonstration for those who appreciate old school desert transportation

They're essentially the same thing in that you're essentially the same person as Lena Dunham (except I bet you're better looking)
The CLK GTR is not notorious for flipping at Le Mans. The CLK GTR never even went to Le Mans (it's instead "notorious" for winning the FIA GT Championship for the Mercedes team and not having any flips). The CLK LM DID go to Le Mans, having been designed specifically for it, with a new (old) V8 engine as well as various other things, but it didn't flip either, it just had a humiliating engine failure because taking the turbos off a Group C engine doesn't make it reliable.
The car that did flip was entirely new, because the ninnies in the FIA closed the loophole that Porsche, Mercedes, Nissan, and Toyota had been exploiting to enter purpose-built racers as GT cars, and so Mercedes entered the LMP class, and, not having to make even tiny concessions to a road car, was able to design an entirely new, "improved" car. (On the other hand, Toyota simply modified their "GT" car for the LMP class, and they were very nearly successful)
For what it's worth, this 911 GT1 is the lightly updated road version of the first GT1, another car that never flipped. Apparently the GT1-98 and CLR aren't quite notorious enough for people to actually know the difference between them and the older cars, and weirdly NOBODY ever gives BMW shit for their ugly LMP winner flipping at the exact same place that the Porsche did

I'm going to be the beige guy here and state that I actually really, really like the general look and feel of the 301 and its sister, the Citroën C-Élysée (shit those accents are difficult). I mean, how often do you see a new car promoted with sentences like these: "The clearance and the tyres are comfortable, additional underbody protection has been installed, the design of the bodywork parts has been reinforced and the clip attachments have been replaced by stronger screw-based attachments."
I have mortgage and stuff like that to take care of. Doesn't matter if the new daily driver isn't completely bonkus and filled to the brim with new tech — my "hobby car" is a completely different story, then.

Nostalgia!! Minibus, or "baiza bus" as it's known in Oman where I lived serve as the main public transport (no public buses or trains), att (~8 years ago) it cost 200bz (fifth of a Rial or 32p/51c :)

Do you think these Chinese engineers are happy with their jobs? Do you think they feel some sense of satisfaction from the work they provide or do you think they have a nagging suspicion their work is hollow? I get the thrill of counterfeit currency, but whole counterfeit cars? Entire counterfeit Apple stores with faux goods and employees who are duped into thinking they actually work for Steve Jobs?

No they are not not clones, if AM General is helping them they are not fakes. I did read the article with a critical eye. The not really was in response to the reverse engineering.

Pretty well floored me the last time I was in Dubai and actually came across a Great Wall dealership. Can't say I've seen any Chinese vehicles on the roads there (besides some cargo trucks and buses), but there I am at 11:30 at night, snapping pics on my phone when I really needed to be heading back to DXB to catch my 2 am flight back to San Diego. Good stuff.
